Support your dog’s sun-safety routine with a barrier cream made specifically for exposed canine skin. Sun Shield is a zinc-free, lick-safe dog barrier cream for areas with little or no fur, including the nose bridge, ear tips, belly and groin.

The formula uses non-nano titanium dioxide to create a physical barrier on the skin, while beeswax helps it stay in place during outdoor activities. Raspberry seed oil, pumpkin seed oil, shea butter, jojoba oil and vitamin E nourish exposed skin and help keep it soft and comfortable.

Made in small batches in Canada with human-grade, fully disclosed ingredients, Sun Shield contains no zinc oxide, PABA or synthetic fragrance. It is ideal for pink-skinned, hairless, light-coated and outdoor-active dogs.

Always free from

Zinc oxide  ·  PABA  · Nanoparticles ·  Anything not food-grade.

Key Ingredients

  • Non-Nano Titanium Dioxide — a mineral physical barrier that sits on the skin’s surface.
  • Raspberry & Pumpkin Seed Oils — botanical oils that nourish and add natural resistance.
  • Shea Butter, Jojoba & Vitamin E — moisturize and comfort dry, exposed skin.
  • Beeswax — anchors the cream so it’s water-resistant and stays on through play.

How to Use

Apply a thin, even layer to exposed areas — nose, ear tips, belly, and groin — about 15 minutes before heading outside, and massage until absorbed. Reapply after swimming, heavy panting, or roughly every 2 hours during long days out.

Product FAQ

  • Is Sun Shield a dog sunscreen? Sun Shield is a natural barrier cream, not a registered sunscreen, and we don’t make SPF or UV claims. It’s a physical, mineral-based barrier that shields sun-exposed skin — the lick-safe, zinc-free choice for the spots fur doesn’t cover.
  • Can I use my own (human) sunscreen on my dog instead? It’s not recommended. Many human formulas contain zinc oxide or salicylates that can be harmful to dogs if licked and swallowed. Sun Shield is made specifically for dogs and is lick-safe.
  • Is it safe if my dog licks it? Yes. It’s made with food-grade ingredients and contains no zinc oxide or PABA, so a lick off a treated spot is no problem.
